Those glass doors must be new or under repair. Since the 3 months I've lived in Seoul, the doors have always opened and closed in tandem with the train doors.

suicide by subway is a recent phenomenon for Seoul.
they are building the glass barriers so that potential suicidal person
will go somewhere else to commit the suicide.
Seoul government is also putting roller bearings and grease the bridges truss
to prevent people climbing on the bridges for suicide.
so that people can commit suicide in the privacy of home or in the mountains,
and not in public places.

The most significant reason that Korean government built the screen doors is to get rid of suicide commits, more than 100 pple suicide in the subwaysation a year. Korea has two problems now, No.1 rate of suicidals, and No.1 rate of low birth rate(1.2 baby/babies) per family.

The subway are very fast. The most slow is Line 1.Don't take it if you are in a hurry. But they are good because in line 1 you have faster trains with lesser stops. With the subway system you can work or study in any part of Korea without transportation hitches.I liked it when I was there.

They have theese so people dont commit suicide or so people dont drop stuff in there.

that is a screen door noise, safety to prevent accidents. That is the installation tasks.

Very good solution for the Subway, São Paulo subways are much far from it

Ive never seen those screen doors in subway when I visited seoul long time ago..BUT isnt it obvious that the screen system is still under construction? Why would they spend so much money to install that glass barrier with "holes"? The first thing a decent person would think of it as unfinished job NOT as strange thing.
