@bekbek78 Well stated. Perhaps John Peel knew what he was talking about? The Wedding Present and The Undertones? Uh, yeah!

@pronchias Well done, fellow Canuck! I thought you had Doukhobors out there, though? Sadly, the place where this was filmed, Criminal Records in Toronto, is out of business. Also, the Weddoes' bassist in this clip, Terry de Castro, is no longer in the band. David Lewis Gedge rules.

I'm a rocker from the '50's, never heard a better band than The Weddoes, never a better rocker than David Gedge.
Norm
Gedge- "At the Edge of the Sea" is thus August. Go!!!

I DON'T THINK ANY CURRENT BANDS COULD PLAY STUFF LIKE THE 80'S BUT THE SAD THING IS THERE ARE BANDS FROM THE 80'S THAT CAN'T PLAY THE SAME NOW A DAY'S. I AM AN 80'S KID BUT I NEVER HAVE HEARD OF THESE GUY'S TILL TODAY. THIS REMINDS ME OF MTV120 MIN WHEN THEY SHOWED VIDEO'S AND I WOULD SEE OLD BILLY BRAGG OR ROBIN HITCHCOCK.

Wonderful to see this footage of a brilliant song, still means so much after all these years.
-
Not seen the Weddoes since the early 1990's but Dave Gedge never looks any bloody older! I think he is 50 this year!

On record i'd go for Suck or I'm not always so stupid. Live it would have to be the first time I heard 'Take Me' back in '88. Still remember where I was standing who I was with and how Dave and Grapper ran up and down the stage in the outro.

@bekbek78 there not the greatest but then again im a habitual lier lol of course there the greatest!!! "its a gas" has gotta be the best for me

i fell sorry that probably i ll never see them live. i live in brazil and they could come here or me until them...
This band was a god-send if you lived in a praire town in Canada in the '80s. Travelled 150 miles to buy George Best, on a wagon train, fighting off killer gopbhers and Mennonites.

The man is now 24 years into his recording career and is still at the top of his game. Think of what McCartney, Dylan, Jagger and Elton were doing 24 years into their career and then tell me the Wedding Present aren't the greatest recoding artists of all time!
