This hymn means a lot to our family. My fathers related the story of his brother aged 19 was sick in a coma at the point of death, The family gathered around his bed when he suddenly awoke, asked for a rag doll from his childhood. It was handed to him. He then proceeed to sing this hymmn Lead kindly light from start to finish. When finished he closed his eyes and died.

Nice presentation. Yes it was one among Mahatma Gandhi's favourite hymns. Watch Classic Hymns 300 voice choir from Chennai India sing this hymn. The other of Mahatma Gandhi's favorite hymns were Abide with me , "Rock of Ages" and "When I survey the wondrous cross".

Thank you very much! It is wonderful.
Gandhi was not a Hindu, and to make a statement that he is one is particularly unfortunate considering he was a man who repeatedly claimed that he believed in all religions, worked for the upliftment of Muslims(whom many Hindus were violently against, particularly at the time of independence), and pleaded for secularism all his life.

@NithilaaR all that you say is true except that he thought Ishwar and Allah are the same spirit and his final words when he was shot at was "Hey Ram!"
