Here is some video documentation of my recent installation at the Hive Gallery of my "product people". The installation was up on both the Saturday December 6th opening and for the Downtown los angeles Art Walk December 11th (2008) and was a big success. Find below the Press release for the events:

Sidewalk Installation at The Hive Gallery
729 S. Spring St. Los Angeles, CA 90014

Los Angeles, CA December 6 and December 11, 2008 The Hive will host a sculptural installation work by artist Treiops Treyfid outside their 729 S. Spring street location. The opening reception will be on Saturday, December 6, 2008 from 8pm to midnight and is part of their monthly group show. The title of the mixed media installation is Are You Product People?.

Stark and contorted figures haunt a downtown Los Angeles sidewalk. Imprisoned by piles of product catalogs from famous retailers and fabricated from the detritus of our consumer culture they confront the audience. Amidst this spectacle we are awakened temporarily from our stupor and reminded that we are the targets of the relentless sales campaigns that saturate our environment via billboards, television and the Internet. Are you and others addicted to conspicuous consumption? Are you tired of the resultant loneliness and desolation that our consumer culture fosters? Are You Product People?

Treiops Treyfid has been actively involved in the downtown art scene since 2000. His work explores themes including consumerism, loss of identity, and glamour. He is currently exploring a wide array of materials including recyclables, holographic foil and polyester resin. He has shown at many downtown and Hollywood galleries including The Hive, MJ Higgins, Create:Fixate, Eco-Art Gallery, Phantom Galleries, and J.Ferrari.
