Da come si suona Bach in privato, e questa è una esecuzione intima e privata, si capiscono molte cose del mondo spirituale delle persone. In questa confessione Pollini, non potendosi mascherare dietro la retorica romantica, svela tutta la sua aridità.

@gianpaga11 Il fatto che mi stia dando del lei è dimostrazione del fatto che l'hanno educata, non del fatto che abbia un minimo di cervello, nè del fatto che sappia cos'è la musica e tantomeno con chi sta parlando. Sapendolo probabilmente tacerebbe. Il fatto che invece di rispondere con le sue ragioni passi a conclusioni grezze e affrettate fa di lei una persona poco curiosa, poco profonda e ancor meno rispettosa delle opinioni altrui. Qualità che per la musica sono indispensabili.

Please, don't mention Gould. He was a genius, but if one loves Bach and not just Gould, one should be able to appreciate different interpretations of Bach's music, of which no definitive interpretation can be given.

As to Pollini's rights to record this music, he's been playing the whole WTK in concert since at least 1985 (Bach's tricentenary), so anyone ready to dismiss his playing as inappropriate, too romantic etc. is probably clueless and prejudiced (tastes are another matter).

Beautiful ! We should be so lucky to again be able to hear the great pianista of our time Pollini ,Barenboim , Asshkenazy , Perahia , Goode, Hewitt etc give their testimony about their view of J.S Bach . Each in its way it keeps the blood flowing through the tradition (traditions) of Bach interpretation. Luckily the voices of style -bechmesserism seem to have been thrown on the garbage heap of history.

Mi dispiace per dirlo, ma il grande Maestro Pollini e troppo romantica per Bach. La fuga non e in suo sangue come e, per essempio, per Gould. Sua tocca non e giusto per la baroque tedesco . . . a meno fino adesso.
