On Saturday October 24th Greenpeace joined 350.org to mobilize people around the world for the October 24th International Day of Climate Action. At events all over the country, from St. Louis' iconic arch to a coal plant in Chicago, thousands of Greenpeace activists joined in warnings of rising sea levels, demonstrations of how coal is bad for communities as well as climate, and marches for climate leadership at iconic structures and government buildings.

  • incredible video. how is it possible that our leaders are still listening to coal company executives when this movement is growing? obama, congress - if you're out there - remember that these are the people who elected you. coal industry dollars won't keep you in power forever.

  • wow.....

check it out, chicken little, CO2 in the u.s has actually dropped a lot in the past decade. 4.3% much?

while europe falls far behind at less than 1% and canada is going for broke at 22.3%.?

  • I'm all for protecting the environment and responding to climate change / global warming, but simply shutting down coal plants isn't very realistic. I think grandfather clauses should be done away with and that all coal plants should be forced to upgrade to gassification technology in conjunction with CO2 capture technology.

All or nothing is almost never the solution. Though...if we wait long enough to act, we may be left with just that sort of scenario...or worse.

  • i don't remember any manifastation in Brazil

  • "Leadership not Politics"?!!!

people asking for a post-democratic age?

DOes anyone remember that American short film called "The Wave" which is about facism developing in America - a Hitler Youth style movement called "The Wave".

  • THe elite love it when we hit the streets to "campaingn" for what they want to give us anyway: draconian measures to curb our freedom - carbon credits etc.

In england democratic processes are giving up their power to campainging mobs, given lots of cash as long as they campaing for what the elite wants. THis is intimidating for other people, such as climate change sceptics.

  • there is a big change in opinions caused by the awkward "hack of truuths!!1 in THE climate-institute...and ultra-sensible informations..." lol

Alex jones, his truther-idiots, the selfish rightwingers- and above all the exxon mobile company praying everywhere "now its out - climate change is complete hoax.."

And most of the people belief that. (!)

they are soooo obvious hardcore idiots, but they are sucsessful. Its horrible.

  • hybrids are bad battery acid will kill us all buy a landrover

  • The cop on 1:50 is a super hottie...

  • Exactly how do you conclude that we are morons?!? How seriously can your comment be taken when you don't even make a supporting argument. How intelligent does that make you??
