The unsolicited, unnecessary sequel to the conclusion of my Norinco Hunter / 7.62x39mm Galil project includes another ham-fisted mini project: attaching a red dot sight to the rifle. While standard AKs have a plethora of optic mounting options available to their owners and Galils have a few as well, the Norinco Hunter relies on its own unique mounting system that is unfortunately but predictably rare these days. I could have drilled and tapped the receiver to attach a standard AK side rail, but the risk of mangling the gun was unappealing.

The use of tools and firearms have many inherent dangers and should not be undertaken without sufficient training. The modification of firearms should be done by a qualified professional, not some chump with a video camera and a cargo blanket. Consult an attorney to verify any planned project is within the limits imposed on you by local, state and federal laws. THIS VIDEO DOES NOT COVER CONVERSION TO SELECT FIRE. Consult the ATF to determine why that is a bad idea. I possess neither the knowledge nor wherewithal to do such a thing anyway.

  • that's amazing. it's a simple way to have the necessary rail you need without adding bulk! thanks for posting

  • @aulvalenzuela21 It works on AK-style rifles that have gas tubes that positively attach to the receiver like the Galil or Valmet. On standard AK-style rifles, I would looks for a solution with a bit more stability.

Thanks for watching and the kind words!
