  • @jordyboy0129 Sorry mercury verado's are inline 6 cylinder I thought that they were v6.

  • @jordyboy0129 Really I'll give you a few reasons why these motors AREN'T a piece of crap. First they are legendary motors mercury doesn't make tower of powers any more. Second these motors have to be good if they are still running great at 40 or 50 years old. And third this one is from personal experience we got our boat with a 150 tower of power on the water last year with it having not run in about 10 years now it did take some tuning and it still does but it still worked good enough to use.

  • the '86 is oil injected if I'm not mistaken..... Do you know if the oil tank is internal or external?

a nice motor. I envy your propeller

  • anyone know what the fuel economy is on these things at wot or cruising? mine seems to use way too much. it burns 3 gallons running at wot for 20 minutes

  • Jordyboy0129 we are talking about OUTBOARD motors...... Not inboard.

  • i have the same motor and a manuel i can do most any repair i replaced the water pump and the stator after some trouble shooting. And it runs great. Pushs my 2072 alum. boat about 55 -56 mph

  • @jordyboy0129 Your comments say differently. These are 40 year old motors, most of them and they have proven their reliability, especialy considering most of them have been abused or beat the hell out of. I would take a rebuilt 40 year old Merc over the over-engineered, overpriced stuff the mfrs put out there now.

  • @jordyboy0129 -- Worst reliability? Hmm, then how is mine running? It's never quit or crapped out. What does that tell you for a 26 year old motor?

  • @jhs5150 yeah i KNOW nothing about boats outboards evn though i own my own boat yard and i have 41 boats i have been through 7 years of marine tech engerneering course i am sponcered by nearly all the outboard companys and i know for a fact these outboards are the worst reliablity. the new ones have more reliablity and speed

  • @jordyboy0129 You know nothing about outboards.
