Blind Diggin' : A Date With The Unknown

Blind Diggin' is what i call this type of record shoppin' i've been doing at the "Piek Fijn" stores in Rotterdam.

These are not your tipical record store. They are a group of "second hand" stores owned by Rotterdam's City Hall. You find all types of items on them. From home furniture to CDs, Books and....most important for me, VINYL!

Long-story-short, there is vinyl but there is no turntable.
Told you son! It's not a typical record store, so it's "go with the flow" style.

Truth is told, sometimes you hit the jackpot (or should i call it jackchop). But sometimes, you might not be on your lucky (call it "focused") day.

And you might wanna scream "I WISH I HAD A PORTABLE TURNTABLE" when you get home. But c'mon son! It's still fun to have a date with some unknown records.

My Cousin NRG shot this footage while i was diggin' last Month (August 11th) at a Piek Fijn close to my home. Props to the kid. He shot it with a Canon MV800 MiniDV cam. Big up Blood!

I've been busy in the studio producing and recording (put my day job on top of that, got yaself a busy dad). So i had no time to revisit this Sony Vegas session i made with the video he shot.

One thing was missing! Background music! (*scratching my head)
So i throwed in this ZL Jams i wouldn't through at any MC. U know!
Just vibes! My vibes, on a certain moment in the studio. I Just picked them randomly (most of them relatively old).

The first beat is played and the rest is sampled.

This is dedicated to all those who love vinyl, sampling and Hiphop. Fire your boss and don't quit the diggin' job! Hahaha (fading out), i'm just kidding...

@miamiwax In this store there are mostly 1/2 Euro (50 cents) records. Sometimes, some of them cost 1 euro. i feel what u saying! To not spend huge amounts on records you don't know. I wouldn't do that either.

REAL CRATE DIGGERS GO THRU EVERY RECORD 1 BY 1 TO HIT THAT JACKPOT! BE PATIENT, DO YOUR HOMEWORK(LABELS,YEARS,ETC.....­) AND THERE'S NO NEED FOR A PORTABLE TURNTABLE.

"real crate diggers"? is that one who only looks at stuff he regognize and dont be more open and creative than that? the word "real" is misused today. real is that you do your thing and be creative and have fun, not that you do something that someone else is doing.. learn to digg deeper then things you recognize, you will find cool stuff deep down under the things you recognize.
