In Professional Artistic Pool the shots are divided into 8 disciplines, one of which is the "Follow" discipline. In each of the 8 disciplines there are 5 shots to make a total of 40 preliminary shots. This clip is one I filmed in preparation for the 2006 World Championships (in the event that I get invited). I shot a 211 in this practice session and wanted to post the near perfect Follow discipline. Here, I make all 5 follow shots - 4 on the first attempt and 1 on the third attempt for a total of 41 points (of 43 possible). Enjoy.

  • I've been performing the 4th trick that you did in this video recently... but when I shoot the ball on the wall the cue ball pops up. I've made it a bunch of times, but could this Jump Up be because of the quality of the table, or my aim/stroke?

  • Sounds like your stroke, as you might be hitting it too hard, and with at least some elevation. Everytime a ball comes off the felt it's because of the elevation in your stroke. Level out and shoot with a smooth, firm, straight stroke. Email me if you need more help.

  • By the way I don't doubt that you compete or that you don't know it is tougher on the pro tables. It's just that I've found that it helps my game a lot to practice on 9 foot tables with super tight triple-faced pockets. Keep up the good work.

  • It is an 8' table, but as you know, you've got to work with what you've got on hand. I practice on 9' tables every chance I get. The difference in the the lenght matters only minimally, to tell the truth, in what I do. It matters far more in regular gameplay. My pockets aren't shimmed, but they aren't all that forgiving, in my opinion. I'll try and film some on a 9' table first chance I get. Thanks for watching. www.ericyow.com
