A run on Fusor V showing X-rays effecting the CCD while the neutron counter beeps away in the background. Also a nice star mode shot

  • What do neutrons do? I know what they are, but what do they do? And don't xrays come from electrons colliding with a target? I'm kinda lost just wanting to understand more.

  • @mistyrine1 Neutrons are very useful particles for neutron activation. Neutron activation analysis allows the analysis of the various elements within a sample while in much larger fluxes (such-as in a reactor) those neutrons can produce nuclear fuels and medical isotopes such as radioactive iodine and technetium. Neutron sources can also be used for soil density analysis in engineering. With regards to x-rays, the chamber shell is the target and the grid is a thermionic source.

  • Okay. We saw your x-ray machine inside. Now, provide us some x-ray pictures, please. :o) LOL

  • mental !

  • Very cool!

  • that beeping is the decrease in the half-life of your nuts.
