The thing about Neil is he does good country when he doesn't try to do traditional country...like that album Old Ways...it's just dull and boring because it's Neil trying to be someone he's not. He's trying to be country singers and artists he enjoys. This right here is something that I've never really heard since...country funk...this is his him doing country, but it's him doing it his way and how he feels about country music not him trying to replicate what he's heard like on Old Ways.

As a kid, I never realized just how country Young was. But the reason he got away with it, so to speak, is that he didn't try to sound like every other country singer, like today. He, like the best bands and artists, simply incorporated a certain genre, country, into his unique style and self. A true leader, artist, man, and genius. Amen.
