Dr. McDougall and Senate Bill 380

John McDougall MD authored a bill in the California State Senate (SB 380) in order to require California doctors to receive continuing education about the relationship between diet and common diseases. The bill, with some modification, passed 7 to 1 in the Senate Business & Professions Committee. Here are the opening statements before that committee given in support of the bill by Dr. McDougall and Dr. Don Forrester.

Dr. Mc Dougall is a real hero. If more doctors were like Dr. Mc Dougall then the world would be a better place to live. We don't need to kill innocent animals to live. It's a shame that the modern medical industry is only interested in making money out of sick people and not helping them.

I see physicians who are obese including nurses where I work (hospital) and it is truly shameful that our health providers are unhealthy (obese) too.
