Terry C. Thomas provides an introduction to chapter seven of his book: At Least We Were Married.
Honey, this is daddy, the warm voice cheerfully announced.
I had written and told them just how much I loved you and how I felt about us — WITHOUT mentioning anything definite, she wrote me. And they called just to tell me how happy they were about it and how much they thought of you. (This surely made us feel good — we wanted them to be as happy about it as we were.)
I talked to daddy first and he was so sweet that I just about cried on the phone. He also said that they would be praying about it and trusting God to lead us. It was a REAL BLESSING. Their whole attitude was certainly an answer to prayer. As I said tho, I didnt tell them everything. Ill save that until you can talk with them too. Of course, daddy did say to take our time because we hadnt known each other long. I knew he would say that anyway.
