These guys really know their equipment. I love the high quality production of their recordings. They must use very high sampling rates to get those clean sounds

Wow thanks for putting this up! I was amazed when i didnt know what their opening track was - ive got all their albums from dubnobasswithmyheadman onwards, but i still hadnt heard this before. Can you tell me some more about this track? - when was it released, and how can i get hold of it? I love it!

No worries! I don't know much about this track... its called "Bamboo" but it has the lyrics to "Lenny Penne".
This was also the first time I heard this track, apparently its pretty hard to find.. it was recorded (along with the rest of the set) in Manchester on 16/10/2007 and released 15 minutes after the show. That's about all I know. If you manage to find a copy, or even a good mp3 on a file share program make sure you let me know! Cos I really want to get hold of a good recording of it!

Alas, Bamboo remains a work-in-progress. Your best shot at hearing it right now is a live album, upon a few of which it appears. I'd recommend the Heineken Music Hall set from August 30, 2008. Or you could wait for an official studio release.

I ended up searching for a while and managed to get a few live sets. I really like the Manchester Apollo set on Otober 16 2007. It has a very nice version of Bamboo :)

I got that Manchester Apollo set too (after you recommended it). But I don't think the Manchester version of Bamboo is as good as the Melbourne version. The Melbourne version has a breakdown in it (4 minutes 14 seconds in to this youtube clip) which the Manchester version doesn't have. That breakdown is such a classic Underworld moment - so euphoric yet so subtle and understated - completely unlike (and so much better than) your average cheesy trance breakdown.

I have to say that I completely agree with you on this one. I absolutely LOVE that buildup... I guess that just sums up how well they do their live shows... it really IS live, as in they seem to do something different every time. If only the sound quality was better in the recording!!
Ah if only I could turn back time to that wonderful new years day I would definitely have brought a decent recording device with me!
