Humanism is sometimes mistaken for a form of religion, or something which is very complex. Here, some well known humanists explain that all humanism really is, is people wanting to live ethical and happy lives, thinking for themselves, without religion imposing its own morals on them which are not necessarily compatible with living ethically today. Including interviews with: Richard Dawkins, A C Grayling, Tim Minchin, Andrew Copson, Polly Toynbee, Rumi Hassan, Philip Pullman, & Zoe Margolis.

To expect there to be a why, you must first think we were created for a reason. Who says we have reason to exist, or need it?

seems we spend all of our time and effort arguing with the ridiculous. Let's cut that crap out and start doing things more useful, ok?

Feel free to do so. I take it we agree that modern secular humanism has many of its ideological roots in the Rennaissance? Nonetheless, Humanist ideas have sprung up throughout history (as have many non-humanist ideas) completely independently of Christianity - there's no central genius to the Christian narrative. Philosphical traditions evolve by what you term corruption. The modern claim to the title is as valid as the corresponding change in the use of the term makes it.

Agnosticism is not a thing, agnostic is not a stand alone term. Atheism does not say there is absolutely no gods. 99% of atheists are agnostic atheists.

Humanism is about rejecting the super natural, and valuing human lives and the physical world above any kind of super natural. Humanitarian is just doing things for the wellbeing of other human beings.

I've always seem them as synonymous, with humanism having more of an emphasise on secularity, that being separate from religion. There is probably a definite distinction but I don't see a need to be pedantic about it :)

I am glad humanism is catching on, Atheism is as assuming about its assertions as any religion. To say there is absolutely no god or gods is as ignorant as to say there is. So is humanism just agnosticism?

I've always taken the position that, we all won't know for sure until we die, so we might as well live our lives and not worry about it.
