Admit it. You didn't know people ATE dung beetles. The first person to try one just HAD to be suffering some pretty serious hunger pangs. After all, these are the beetles that roll around balls of... er... animal waste... everywhere they go. Not only do they play with it, they EAT it.

If you're a believer in "you are what you eat," you give these babies a wide berth. And yet, there they are. Available as a snack food in Thailand. Maybe, just maybe, they're so delicious you forget the name.

Yeah, right.

I'm told that, for the most part, insects taste like what they eat. For example honey bees are reputed to taste like honey. Soooooooo I'll pass on an insect that eats poo-poos. :-S

D: The only things that I consider odder than usual that I've eaten were a cricket, snake eyes, alligators, and a turtle. (Which I cried so about.)

Can you try civet coffee? Similar to eating dung beetles, it's coffee made from poo.
