This is a video that is supposed to kinda corespond with the song fic written by my bud What Is This Feeling. Go check out her story at http://www.fanfiction.net/s/3990562/1/
Smammy....I love this vid, no lie. I've had this song stuck in my head for days, I'm so glad you made a vid for it, it makes everything better. Love you!
Lol... Gregory Maguire calls them the "playful inverted boys"...and then Tibbett dies of AIDS. But I'm really not trying to fight...I'm just pointing out some things that can be taken one way or the other, and that some of us choose to see the "other". And yes, she was very much in love with Fiyero. That's definitely true. Galinda and Elphaba were NOT lesbians....but they COULD have been....and that's why it's so much fun to see how other people interpret things for themselves. =)
Oh, I'm definitely NOT saying that Galinda and Elphaba were lesbians....Obviously that isn't the case at all. I'm just saying that there IS a subtext there, and people do pick up on it. Saying that they're just best friends, like sisters, is like saying Xena and Gabrielle were "just friends". Obviously not. But were they full-on, hardcore lesbians? No, not at all. Did you pick up on Frex and Turtle Heart as well? And that Crope and Tibbett were gay? He wasn't ALWAYS blunt about sexuality.
and also, if elphaba had sexual relations w/ glinda (or even if they just went steady but they were still gf-gf), maguire would have made it known...in DETAIL!!! (he sure as heck didn't leave us in the dark about melena & turtle-heart, elphaba and fiyero or liir & trism)
i've read the book version of Wicked (twice or thrice in fact, before i ever saw the musical).
and its my interpretation that they're not bi-. i know what you're referring to: the scene where glinda falls onto elphie's chest, and the line where it says they shared a bed on the train to the EC.
firstly, glinda's fainting, which caused the awkward moment, was caused because she was having a hetero-daydream.
Well, if you read the book Wicked, and follow the story through to Son of a Witch, they have more of an intimate relationship than the musical lets on. Elphaba kisses Glinda in the book, and it's not just a friendly little peck on the cheek. Gregory Maguire challenges the lines of love in his novels; many of his characters are bisexual. I'm not downplaying the Fiyeraba relationship, because that was obviously important to the story...but there really IS a subtext with Glinda and Elphaba.
i don't think elphaba was gay w/ glinda. they were just two really good friends who'd die for each other (like frodo and sam, and people thought they were gay too).
Is that Bonny Tyler in the background?

never saw xena, so i can't honestly say. i did see the frex & turtle-heart, but not at first. and i do NOT see how crope and tippett are homo.
still...elphie later had MANY relations w/ fiyero (and maguire goes into detail) and she liked it...

but thats my interpretation, because i relate to elphaba (i was the "green" person at my school).
besides, its a common stereotype that witches are lesbians. i don't do stereotypes, even when it comes to green people.
