This short video covers the southward view on the westbound ride from underground to the new 52nd Street station on Septa's Market-Frankford El. The music is by 52nd Street's own GhettoGod. You can hear more from him at myspace.com/ghettogodfather52

  • I remember seeing those buildings. They're gone?! Wow! I use to reside on 7th and Snyder avenue, throughout the '80s and half of the '90s; all my childhood memories are all in Philly =D

    Watching this vid brought back memories when my mom and I use to travel on the El train way back when.

    I'm coming back to visit in Christmas; can't wait! I hope some of the people I grew up with are still there...my cousins are still there =)

  • There's been a lot of new building in Philly since the '90s. Are you talking about the old residential towers on Washington at 5th and 13th and Bainbridge? Those came down in 99 or 2000 I think but most of the land has been rebuilt with low-rise residences instead. It's definitely changed, but you should come back!

  • I hadn't been to philly since the '90s. When I see it online it has changed SO much! And I grew up in south philly; I see images of it on google maps and wonder WTF happened to all the buildings?!! They've been knocked down, in ruin or empty lots O.o

  • I will bash it all I want. This city is never going to get out of the funk we are in because of the people. People do not care and when people don't care, the normal people leave. It was called White Flight in the 70's. What do we call it now? There is nothing good about the sights of this city. Actually, if it weren't for the people it would be alright.

  • HEY!

    Do NOT bash our home city!

  • Holy sh...is prob what I'd say if I was ridin on that;

  • one of my favorite routes

  • Ah, the el!

    I've always loved it.

  • This is fucking horrible. Philly people think they are so fucking bad. I think city is full with a bunch of bitches. And the 52nd Street thing needs to stop. I laugh at it on the El everyday when I see your shit scribbled like chicken scratch on the walls of the El. 95% of you fucks can't even spell anyway. Go to school. White Privilege mother fucker!

  • I love our city. Thanks for posting. Neighborhood Bike Works will be riding on the streets!
