One of the best apps for writing Chinese characters is the gPen SCUT. It allows handwritten input as well as pinyin and was released and developed by the HCII-Lab of South China University of Technology (SCUT) see their website at hcii-lab.net/gpen/ or search "gPen SCUT" in the Android market

@enantiomer2000 I have found a way to do handwriting for chinese with the android phone v 1.6. You need to download the Moto CIME apk files. Do a search on google for "moto cime android apk". Only work on Donut, need to use the HTC ones for 1.5. Works on my phone
