Hmong people are a tribal group, they dont really have their own religion. Migrated from China and adapt their lifestyles to Laotian and Thai culture. They practice Shaman. As far as Dancing goes, they do have their own dancing but it's very slow like classic folk dance, kind of boring. SO to spice it up they do other culture's dance. Most of these performance are for contest or ceremony. There's nothing wrong with doing another culture's dance, it's for performances and entertainment.

I think it's the dance not the song. Because the song has a lot of rhythm, they should move to it rather than the words. But great dance though.
