i live where that building came down, a guy had intentionally set that fire to collect on the insurance, it took every fire station in my hometown to put it out

An abandoned motel building near our old house was "donated" for fire fighter training because it was condemned. They did their whole training exercise, then lit it up again and let it burn itself to the ground. We could sort of see that old thing burning from our house!

No way I'm living in any old brick building especially in California. Brick buildings are a seismic death trap. They're strong up and down since they have to support their static weight, but from side to side, they are extremely vulnerable. They're basically like a little toy fort made with poker cards, and you know if you give that a slight tap on the side, it will just totally collapse. Well, that's just exactly what an earthquake will do to an old brick building.

This looks more like the Ryan Hotel fire in Spokane, WA. If i remember correctly this was back in either 1997 or 1996.

It wasn't really a collapse.
The building was burned to the ground and only what stood were the brick walls which collapsed.
