how does the guy get out the way of the line once the car can run on its own? does he duck and lie down?

There is a round platform attached to the pole above the wire and the guy stands there for the duration of the race. Check out some of my other video's it's clearer there.

I don't get it..

1. why is the guy running around the pole?

2. where the hell is the car ?

1. It's like a push start. He's trying to get the car going fast enough so the engine run on it's own. There is only one gear and wide open throttle, so you can't moderate the speed like with RC.

2. You can hear it but it's hard to see. Check out the other "tether car racing" video's on YouTube. "News 12 Interviews Tether Car Racers" and "200 MPH Nitro Model Tether Car" has better production values.

He's horsing the car, like a push start, until the engine picks up enough RPM's to accelerate on it's own. You can hear the engine pitch change as it accelerates and get's "on the pipe" This track is in Whittier Narrows, CA, you should check it out. AMRCA has a schedule of races.

then double clickt he play button so only a fraction of a second passes on the video

and if your lucky, sometime during :28

you'll see the blur of the car

and you look real carefully at normal speed and you got good eyes, you can just BARELY see the blur of the car

tehter cars are a great past time,now as much as back in their hey day, great to hook up with these cars and make it go go go,good history as well, and getting your car up there in the speeds is such a challenge but loads of fun along the way, what a great liitle beast they are!!!l just so much fun!!!!
