the uneven finish is likely due to using a brush. try spreading the creme like icing a cake.

Can you use any image from the internet, or only the ones that come with the machine?

@rgeiger74 With the current version of Silhouette Studio (free on their website) you can trace an image automatically or create your own freestyle. My understanding is that if you upgrade to the paid version, you can input other vector images like those from Adobe Illustrator but I haven't verified that myself.

@mianux724 No, you don't. The backing on the vinyl is sufficient.
