She is right on mnay points, except the most important one: This is a war which cannot be won in Afghanistan. If we don't remember the past, we are doomed to repeat it. In Vietnam (just like Afghanistan) we were severely hindered by International boundries. We could not go into Laos. Laos was where the Viet Cong had massive camps, operating bases, and weapons caches. Pakistan IS the new Laos, and it is a nuclear power. We are not "winning" the war. We are wasting lives, time, and money.

I believe she is correct on many points, except the one that matters most. This is a war which cannot be won in Afghanistan (especially since we are not allowed in Pakistan). That is just like Vietnam. Politics and international boundries still govern what we can and can't do. In Vietnam, we couldn't go into Laos, -where Viet cong forces had bases and massive weapons caches; Where they operated and launched attacks from. If we don't remember the past, we are doomed to repeat it.

Logan is kind of like a modern female Paul Revere for the news media. Problem is, not many are listening or will listen. Because the truth is too politically incorrect and "soooooo insensitive!"

I admire Lara's achievements but I have not heard how the Taliban of today is a kinder, gentler version of the Taliban of 2001. Who is saying this? They just shot a 14 year old girl in the head because she wants all girls in the country to enjoy a good education. I dont think we are as easily hoodwinked as Ms Logan implies. I have no illusions about the Taliban. Perhaps the current administration is just tired of fighting no-win wars in foreign countries and needs an excuse to get out?
