SICKO: Michael Moore on Capitol Hill

We do live in the American Empire. Agree or disagree over the semantics of that comment, but it is a fact. I am scared that the trend in other governments (especially here in Australia) is to go down the path of the American healthcare system not because it works, but because America does it so it "must" be the right way. It would seem those "selfish motives" are seeping into the rest of the world.

easier said than done man, there is a transition in america where the government is assuming %100 percent control of the people....it's kinda hard to argue with the government pointing guns to people who gave them the power to do so, they didnt just handed the power over, politicians and wealthy tyrants are asuming power and diplomacy isnt working.

Healthcare started because somebody decided one day "hey I can make money if I learn to fix this person" not because of some philanthropic dream of healing everybody.  That is why we have the best medical technology in the world, because people can make money from it. Right now I don't have insurance but so if I get sick I get a huge bill, I prefer that to getting over half my money taken out of my hard earned check.

I just have to laugh that America is supposed to be the world leaders and they are such idiots when it comes to free healthcare... I love my free healthcare. I know it's not "Free". But it is still way cheaper than paying $90 a month (minimum) on health insurance. Instead, we pay a 1% medicare levee with tax. Suck shit for being ripped off by the insurance companies USA. Seriously...

I don't think "everyone" in America thinks that. But you are right. I am of the belief that most US citizens are, against popular belief, rather intelligent. It's just a pity that your government has the lobby groups vested interests at heart rather than their citizens. That was my attack. Your government, not the majority of its citizens like yourself.

But what people don't realize is that the American health care system is ingeniously set up to benefit the health care industries as well as politicians. If our current system was set up in a genuine attempt to provide the best health care possible, then yes, you could call us idiots because it sucks. But no, it was set up by greedy people for their own selfish motives. So by no means are american politicians dumb for what they've done, they are just carrying out selfish motives.
