American Prince by Tommy Pallotta
http://americanprincemovie.com/

In 1978, director Martin Scorsese turned the camera on his friend and roommate, Steven Prince, whose life was more fascinating than what any screenwriter could dream up. The compelling documentary that emerged, 'American Boy' was to become Scorseses lost film. Having never been properly released, it gained cult status among cinefiles over the years through bootleg copies and influenced a whole generation of filmmakers. Quentin Tarantino took one of Prince's stories about injecting adrenaline into the heart of a woman who overdosed and turned it into one of the most memorable scenes in film history. Prince's influence on American cinema not only reaches much further than his small role as the gun salesman in 'Taxi Driver', he has clearly left an indelible mark. Three decades after Scorsese's documentary was released, Tommy Pallotta brings us 'American Prince', where he draws out Steven Prince once more to recount his days since 'American Boy', share why he turned his back on the entertainment industry and to compose the next chapter of his story.

'American Prince' premieres at SXSW on 14 March 2009 and will be distributed online by SubmarineChannel.com for free through video sharing and bittorrent websites such as Mininova.org and the like. See americanprincemovie.com for more details.

  • great, awesome! just learned about this on the alex jones show.

  • Same here. I heard Tommy Pallotta talking about this and he wants to release it through bittorrent as early as next week. I just saw the original on here. Very intriguing piece. Especially when he talks about killing that man at a gas station. Btw, don't forget that he was the nephew of Abe Lastfogel who was one of the first employees and long time president of the William Morris agency. Did anyone catch his adrenalin shot story which was depicted in Pulp Fiction?

  • Trust me Scorsese ripped off plenty of people u just have to go back a little further. Anyway, I just watched the great little doc he made on Steve and was wondering what became of him? Now i find myself here) Looking forward to watching American Prince.

  • Has Tarantino admitted to ripping off almost everyone to make pulp Fiction IS the question. And the answer IS, sorta, but not really.

  • He could have been the first Steve Buscemi.

  • Has Tarantino ever admitted to ripping off American Boy? He wasn't exactly forthcoming about ripping off City on Fire, & he tried to stop Roger Avery sharing the glory when the oscars came round. Quite funny that Pulp Fiction won best ORIGINAL screenplay!!

  • American Boy was released! I use to have it on laserdisc called "three by scorsese"

  • Everyone in this video is so high on coke it's ridiculous. This was definitely Scorsesse's "Coke Period"

  • steve looks great, thank mother nature he's still with us and can share his fire......lucky bastard

  • Wow, he certainly looks different now.

  • It was great, not good as american Boy, but it's interesting to see Steven after all those years and having a retrospective of Steven's work with Marty and The Band. Palotta did a great job. My only regret is that this film spoiled a lot of scene from scorsese's one for those who watch Palotta's one at first.

  • American boy was great! What a story this guy has, what a life, I look forward to american prince!
