@monkey9411 I can't believe that I called Auckland the capital!! Well, that's what you get when you have jet-lag on top of a propensity for blond moments! That was a mistake.
As for the population, you are wrong. There are approx 401,500 people live within the city boundary and 1.25 million in the greater Auckland area (which covers an area of 637km) but I was just talking about the actual city.
