@MMAFightCentre Again though my comments aren't meant to belittle or cast assertions on the character of MMA as a sport or MMA fighters as individuals. I just know from my years playing Rugby that I'd hate opposition players to know wrestling because they'd do stuff that would bring the game into disrepute with the skills they could obtain!
Having deep heat rubbed into your eyes in the middle of a ruck is bad enough ;)

@MMAFightCentre Never been to an MMA gym, It's something I'd like to get into it. As a young one I did Judo, as many children do. As a teenager I also did kick boxing.
And I used to burn copyright DVDs and Music CDs for Michael Bisping before he was an MMA fighter, strangely enough. He used to be a DJ at a place my Dad managed, I just knew him as Mike, knew he did kick boxing(he'd come into our gym once in a blue moon) but had no idea about MMA or UFC at the time.

And thanks for the upload

I think what's better than both Rugby and MMA in this video is the Beautiful South music. Nice surprise!
And it's interesting that in Rugby Union wrestling training isn't a big deal. In Rugby League, especially the NRL, the media would be all over this. There's been tons of wrestling induced injuries. Just search "MElbourne Storm wrestling" or "NRL wrestling" and you'll find a ton of negative press about players using wrestling to hurt players on the ground
The "chicken wing" and "crusher" tackle are 2 that caused outrage in recent years.
I'm not sure what I think of it as a Rugby fan. Obviously you can't ban the wrestle in contact, it's happened since Rugby has existed. But players being taught to go out of their way and tear arms and legs out of sockets, exploit pressure points and seriously injure their opponents. It's a bit dirty if you ask me.
If players get too good at this thing it could be bad news for the game of Rugby

@z0mgrugbyreturns
Thanks a lot for your comment.
At the MMA Fight Centre we teach sportsmen, athletes and individuals a selection of martial arts. The main techniques that were taught to the Saracens Academy were shown to them not so they go and "tear arms and legs out of sockets", but so that they understand the fundamental movements of the body and how to exploit energy in certain ways in order to excel within their sport.
We appreciate your comment. Please don't hesitate to get in contact.

@MMAFightCentre Thanks. I wasn't for a second trying to dirty your name or MMA or wrestling itself. But I feel there's definitely a danger for proper wrestling and MMA to have a negative impact on the game of Rugby.
There's too many dirty players in the sport. People eye gauge and that's not even legal. I'd worry about playing the pro game where someone like Bakkies Botha could legally break my arm LOL
There will need to be an NFL "unnecessary roughness" type rule sooner or later I reckon

@z0mgrugbyreturns
That's the thing tho - you hit the nail on the head there when you said there was "dirty players". MMA is full of rules and regulations to keep contenders safe. Eye gauging is highly illegal, as it would be in rugby.
Out of interest - have you ever been to an MMA gym? I've travelled the world training and fighting in MMA, have never been eye gauged or disrespected, and I've met some great, truly honorable people along my journey. I think you'd be surprised about the level

of respect in the sport.
I agree with you that rules and regulations should be in place to protect people, and any kind of foul play is absolutely wrong. However; rugby is a full contact sport. I'd actually argue that learning MMA, body mechanics etc would in fact reduce the risk of injury. A large part of BJJ for example is learning to break fall, land safely, taking down an opponent whilst supporting the neck etc. Surely it's best that athletes know how to tackle safely and effectively?
