I made this building from scratch using gatorfoam board. It was glued together using a hot glue gun. Some of the features on the building include: a large Vent, small door and garage door, a pass through (for unloading coal loads), windows, a large smoke stack (pvc pipe), pipes (copper wire), and a delivery dock with a large door. The building was painted a gray primer first then dusted with black, maroon, and tan paint. The bottom of the building has a weathered look from the tan paint, while the maroon paint gives the look of rust.

  • Super job on the clouds! As dumb as it may sound not everybody can paint clouds, I know I spent several hundred dollars trying to get different ones to paint them and they all turned out looking like a huge pair of sun glasses. LOL Keep up the great work!!!

  • @disturbed1954 LOL Thanks man! I really appreciate the nice comment!

  • Looks great! i watched a couple more videos from you and i was going to ask you were you bought that then i saw this vid! You did a great job making that!

  • @WanesTrains Thanks so much I really appreciated the nice compliments! I'm going to be making more building fronts like this one, so look out for future updates with them in it. Also, I'm feeling pretty good about my skills in making these things and I'm really thinking of making them to list on ebay, to help fund my layout! Thanks again!

  • Love the video. You did an awsome job with the steele mill, you sould be proud. Great backdrop, clouds are super. Happy to see that you are using Fastrack on your layout. Keep them coming.

  • @205stacy Thanks so much, for the compliments! The clouds were made very simply by dipping a wax applicator that i folded into white paint. I started at the top of the cloud and sponged the paint on towards the bottom, to give it that fading look. I'm also very happy with the decision to use lionel fastrack, it has worked out great for me! Thanks again train friend!

  • @virginiarails855 Thanks! Since this video I have added the legacy command system and put in more power leads to other parts of the layout. I'm currently still using the cw-80 for the power source with Two legacy engines running and 5 switches and have no problems. I have bought the 180w lionel powerhouse but I still need the direct lock-on to use the thing.

  • If you have TMCC keep it! LEGACY is soooo frigin complicated! The only difference from TMCC and LEGACY is that LEGACY just has horn/whistle quailing!

  • @MTHTrainFanatic Thanks a lot, that means so much to me! I can't wait to build more building just like the steel mill, and legacy system will be sweet! Thanks Again!!!!

  • @railfanfromiantha Cool! Thanks for the nice comments! Any friend of Rob's is a friend of mine. I've just started talking to Rob and already I can tell he is a great guy! Thanks for subscribing!
