Senegal rapper against migration - 29_JUL_07

Every year hundreds of men from West Africa drown as they try to reach Europe in overcrowded small boats. They are desperate to find well-paid work to support their families in Africa. One of the worst affected countries is Senegal. The government there has been accused of not doing enough to stop its people leaving. But now a famous musician from Senegal has joined the campaign to persuade Africans to stay in Africa. Rapper Didier Awadi has written a song about the dangerous crossing. He told us about it, in his own words.

Afrika needs to be the capital of the world again.

They have everything there (all natural recourses) we should try to build up the economy again.

The problem is not corrupt governments in Africa. the problem remains neo-colonialism. We must stop European influence and corruption in Africa. Stop blaming Africans and put the blame on corrupt European governments who help to support corrupt leaders in Africa by selling them weapons and funneling money out of Africa and into European banks. We must do as China did--stop selling raw materials to europe. build factories in Africa and begin exporting finish products to the world.
