FOR MONTHS I HAVE BEEN REQUESTED TO POST THIS ON MY YOUTUBE PAGE!! PLEASE NOTE YOUTUBE THAT I SUPPLIED ALL HISTORICAL PHOTOS FOR THIS VIDEO!! USED WITH PERMISSION!!! this video blog features myself speaking about the infamous 1944 massena earthquake. I assisted the history channel in 2007 for the production of a documentary called mega earthquakes. the one segment featured here from the history channel is supplied with photographs and information that I provided for the documentary. the producers also goofed with the date of the earthquake. I was quite upset after it aired because of the mistake. -- john daniel

  • That was an exceptional vid John! I did save it to favs. This was very interesting. I noticed that the second woman interviewed has an accent like yours. I just thought I would point that out You did a great job with the photos too!!!!

  • thank you --also i'm waiting for another big one to happen again here. it will be much worse because we have gas lines now. all modern buildings are not built for earthquakes. they will go like pancakes. i know.

  • During the construction of Haigh Sophia the eastern romans has used a mixture of equal volumes of lime, powdered brick, and sand. This creates a high-tensile strength brick mortar that is virtually earthquake resistant. Today you might replace the sand with wollastonite used in ductal concrete w/c is flexible & use light weight brick mortar to reduce the effects of an earthquake. And don't forget to use helix steel fibers to be mixed with concrete & wt this mortar to make them earthquake proof.

  • i was watching history international tonight and this came on. I was like did they just say Massena. Yup

  • i guess there is a massena accent. i have been told that before in the past. the producers of the new york earthquake from the history channel -- which may be on again -- were happy what i gave them. but unhappy that nobody contacted me to be interivewed on camera. i had better stories than those folks interviewed! LOL

  • thanks..hope your having fun there in korea

  • Great Job!!!
