  • you're right, pigs aren't meant for leashes in the context of a collar around the neck/throat. Their necks are too short and thick for them to work in a humane way. My pig has a harness on which is perfectly safe and comfortable for him, its akin to him wearing a shirt.

  • that is gorgeous :) How old was yours when you started teaching it? Our family has had over 20 in the past, but it was only this last one that i started training. she comes to me when i call her name, but won't walk on a leash; she's almost two years old now, so i'm worried she might be a bit old. I got another one a few weeks ago, so she's less than 12 weeks, but she's a little too small and i'm afraid the harness will fall off. thanks! xx Rach

  • @92rachh hey Rach, my boy was about 5 months when I started getting him used to his harness and just walking him around the house. I began by putting on his harness only and leaving him in it for about an hour while he was running about having floor time. He got used to it really fast, though I think he was just distracted by play time. The next day I put the leash on and it was mostly a lot of just dragging him across the hardwood floors the first day, lol. Next day he had the idea already :)

  • my guinea pig doesnt walk when i put on a leash

  • it took several visits to the park before he finally got the hang of walking instead of just eating the grass under him. I found that putting him down right next to my feet and then walking away slowly suddenly made the "follow the leader" instinct kick in. He needs to be able to see my feet in order to walk, so concentrate on getting yours to notice your feet and follow and hopefully it will work sooner than later.

  • I have one and my guinea pig jut sat there to

  • guineapigs are not built for leashes. if they need exercise put them in a play pen!. if they need more grass, put the playpen outside! leashes are really harmful!

  • It's not cruel it's very sweet and nice. The guniea pig gets to be out in fresh air and walk around more. So to the ones saying that this is cruel, I bet you Never took your guinea pig outside. Cue vid.

  • i did that and my piggie just sat their. :( waste of money.

  • Cool i need to get my guinea pigs a leash

  • He's so little! How much does he weigh?

  • hes like no no were going this way!!!

  • My guinea pigs all have been absolutely terrified of the harnesses and panic to get them off- was yours like this?
