Super-back Keith Yeager from Los Angeles, Fairfax High. One of the most heavily recruited
running backs in the 80's. Played in the Los Angeles Senior Bowl. Andy Reid current head coach of the Philadelphia Eagles camped out at Yeager's door and signed him to San Francisco State University. Why Yeager chose to go there who knows but I did see this guy when I was a student and he was the only back that I could truly say had the speed of Tony Dorsett and the power of Walter Peyton.
Yeager's athletic talent was WASTED at the school. He was used
sparingly in a pass happy offense that was very ineffective anyway.
Yeager was given the ball only about 5 carries a game
but averaged a WHOPPING 10 yds a carry. Bill Walsh timed Yeager
at Stanford University before Yeager ran a track meet there and
Walsh told San Francisco's ABC-KGO sports anchor Marc Gibson that Yeager just
ran a legitimate 4.3 40 yard dash. Yeager tore his achilles tendon
weeks later while preparing for the NFL combine and hasn't been heard
from since.
According to alumni records he lives in Montecito, Ca. with his family.
This was 1985, we had a lot of fun that year. I was sorry to see them drop the program, I sure hope they bring it back.

BUT you need to remember the good things Title IX brought to State. Like the lacrosse team. Chicks with sticks.
