  • I am doing " an old witch within that wood doth dwell" in my vocal lessons but in english because i have spent the last three semesters doing german any ideas where i might be able to find a quality recording in english ??

  • btws, this is the end of act 1 and beginning of act 2. The orchestral interlude is the prelude to the 2nd act!

  • the orchestra is so undynamic... especially in the instrumental parts. this could be full of drama and excitement. but as very often old conductors conduct slowly...

  • @KimbaPower I think it's nice. :)

  • Oh! Mama and Papa are going to get down on 00:54 ...

  • Actually, the MET-Version is worse. But also this production is quite annoying with its Chipmunk-Angels . Phew

  • I personally disagree with your opinion. Yes, it is a modern version, but it's very well done, unlike the horrible and disturbing production of the Metropolitan opera

  • @KnusperhexeRosmer I agree, it lacks romance, atmosphere - like all "Eurotrash"!

  • in some productions, the witch and the mother are played by the same woman.

  • She is desperate, because there is no food at home. Therefore she sends the children into the woods to pick up berries. Humperdinck's sister Adelheid Wette changed the Grimm Fairy tale because she did not like the cruel mother. Her script is wonderful, but this modern production is a crap.
