  • Why the genuflection?

  • @Bellringer1 The genuflexion is because during the singing of the Ave Regina the priest is reciting the Last Gospel, which contains the phrase: "And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us", at which point he (and the congregastion) normally genuflects.

  • @konigskinder Excuse me for quibbling, but the Priest & congretation are genuflecting during "super omnes speciosa", meaning "more beautiful/brilliant/spectacular than anything".

  • Finally! :-) This is the hymn sung in the Canadian movie "Agnes of God", from about 1 hour and 21 minutes into the film. I'd been searching for this hymn for so long!

  • Quis ut Deus! Ave Maria!

Thank you, I wasn't aware the Last Gospel was read at the same time. At my church it usually is not. Still, I guess the practice differs wherever you go.

  • This is the simple tone of the Ave Regina Coelorum.

  • Which version of the Ave Regina Coelorum is this? It's beautiful.
