N.E.P.A.L. is directed by one of my favourite directors, the legendary Park Chan-Wook (OLD BOY, Sympathy for Mr Vengeance). This film is one of the shorts from the Obnimus South Korean film 'If you were me' (2003) which is directed by six leading Korean directors and it was made for the National Human Rights Commission.
N.E.P.A.L is based on a true life story of Chandra Kumari Gurung, a Nepalese woman in Korea. The film's narrative tackles the racial prejudice and the economic exploitation of immigrant workers in Korea. All f the six films deal with discrimination in Korea. The film has spawned three live-action sequels, as well as two animated films, which deal with similar themes.
