It's the year 2029, people can now materialize into websites. A look into the future of music mastering!

This video makes innocent fun at the following mastering engineers:
Bob Katz, Alexei Luikin, Edward Vinatea and John Scrip. LOL.
These are real mastering engineers with different technical approaches and price ranges but their work is top notch.

This video is basically a warning to all you musicians and producers falling for a cheap mastering deal on the web.

Pay careful attention towards the end when the crooked ME says: "Loud is good, man...it helps me make you believe that your music sounds better....."

It really isn't, but that's what cheap mastering online facilities will have you think. There is more to a loud sounding record that meets the eye, and the proof is on how some mastering guys manage to obtain loudness [if wanted] and still retain dynamics.

That's what the price gap means, you are paying for their experience not their equipment. Although some ME's can charge over $3,000 to master an album (like the crooked ME in this video) this price is usually not an indicator of better quality work than the guy who charges over $600+. Those high prices usually reflect their higher labor costs, overheads, fame, accolades and the fact that they service what's left of the music industry. If you can afford one famous mastering facility or ME, it's your money so knock yourself out.
