On the morning of Sunday 12th November 2006 at approximately 1.15 a.m., a fire swept through this iconic rock club in Birmingham. It is believed there were no major injuries and over 500 people were evacuated. This footage, taken some 12 hours later shows the lovely old building still smouldering.
i played there manny times with my band, we was forever graitfull to eddies for bringing us to Brum as we started to get established, sadly it was short lived :(
i have memorys of being there and looking up and seeing angled mirrors to look down girls tops lol not that i did just made me laugh, and i swear the last time i was there the condom machine in the gents had a sheep option lol
good times, i know they moved the legend of eddies but it was over the moment the flames walked in
They were the best (nights) days of my life ever. Moshing to Killing in the Name of... Getting off with girls. Early/ mid 90's every Friday and Saturday night. Missing the night bus and having to walk home to Kings Heath !! Thank you - you were the best and gave me the best time of my entire life. RIP Eddies No. 8.
If ur old school, u`ll know the name "Eddy Futral". Right dodgy geeza. I knew his son, Danny (top lad). Danny just got twatted to often on his E´s. Thats a thought, remember the "Disco biscuits"? Lasted u all night, they were that big;-) Anyways Eddy was the owner of Edwards number 8´s and also number 7 plus Boogies. Boogies had a door man called...now get this, a doorman called Nobby. Remember him? Bold geeza, bent as a ten bob note but loved his boxing....nothing to this story just memories!!!
I'm from Italy, and I loved Edward's. I used to study at the U.C.E. in '95/96 and I didn't miss a night in there. Very special place, very great atmosphere, very good music. I didn't know it burned...I'm so sorry. :(

Left Eddies that night exactly 5 minutes before it went up in smoke...we were less than 10 feet from those toilets...close call eh?
Sad loss to the Brum scene; mcu maligned and totally missed.
RIP Eddies.
