ICNA MAS Convention 2011 - Quran: Guidance Towards a Just and Balanced Way

Assalamu-Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuh.

Alhamdu-lillah the 36th annual ICNA-MAS convention is here!
There are more reasons than ever to attend the ICNA MAS 36th annual Convention being held May 28 - 30, 2011 (Memorial day weekend) at the Connecticut Convention Center in Hartford, Connecticut. This year's theme is "Quran: Guidance Towards a Just and Balanced Way".

Allah Almighty says in the Quran: "And he raised the heaven and imposed the balance. Establish weight with justice and fall not short in the balance. Maintain the balance with fairness and justice, without differentiating anybody's rights and obligations", Surah Ar-Rahman (55:7-9). These verses make it clear that justice is the basis of creation and in order for its continuity, justice must be maintained. It is therefore no surprise that the balance is also the symbol of justice and its means of realization at the same time.

So in order to fulfill our obligation of maintaining justice and balance it is no doubt necessary to understand what is justice in the first place? Without using the Quran as a source of guidance, any assertion of honoring justice may simply be what men deem appropriate. Or perhaps justice is what is recognized by a majority or a certain religion or ethnicity. It is even more interesting that overtime man has tilted the balance of justice in a manner that the just has become the unjust and vice-versa. We stand today at a critical moment in time where injustice is looming in some form or another in our communities as well as around the world. The time is now to call for true justice using the most divine of sources as a guide:

"The Quran, being the Word of God, is the Absolute Criterion of Justice, equity, impartiality, fairness, balance, and the law", Surah Al Meezan (42:17).

@youseenislam I think the voice is quite normal and it did its job just fine. I have seen worse videos and we do not have budget for a "thick deep voice" anyways. No need to imitate Hollywood here.
