You assembled a clean engine on the driveway??? Thats like performing brain surgery on a bathroom floor at McDonalds.

talon and eclipse engines are not JUNK...they are the strongest 4 piston engine, the downside is the timing belts and the 7 bolt crankshaft. all u need to do is do a balance shaft elimination and a high performance timing belt and then your indestructable .... and for the 7 bolt crankshaft.. if you get a new one...then it dosent matter

only cost about 1 grand? what all did you buy for this rebuild please tell. i am gettin ready to rebuild my 95 talon tsi awd, it spun a rod bearing, im plannin on spending more then 1000 but am interested in what u happened to get for that price.

@Eaglestalon 3:55 is a spun bearing,did it run out of oil perhaps? Thrust bearing wouldnt like having no oil either,thats why the crank can move in the block, but it defo didnt cause the engine to fail.

@interex83 ya I agree, ase master tech here. 92' talon owner, and that is spun rod bearing. no sign of "crankwalk" there at all.
-
@cquetsch not really a big deal. until you start laying your internals down on whatever.........
-
you didnt; reuse the crank did you? I heard you cant have them cut cause they are specially treated for hardness on the journals.
-
@kalo888 how do you do a balance shaft elimination? i have a 96 talon tsi awd that the motor is all apart because the timing belt broke i just bought it and i have everything apart and all the parts on the floor i already replaced the balance belt with a high performance one.

The compressor side piping in 0:40 seems horribly inefficient. Why not cut the neck off the compressor housing, turn it around, and weld it back on to face the right side?? I would think it'd make it a whole lot better.

ha ha i was like holy shit! i know this song :D
how much was your rebuild? has it walked since?

It was about $1000 and the blocks still sound
after 10,000+ miles (;

I dont see a single sign of "thrust bearing failure" aka "Crankwalk"... I see what looks to be someone spun a bearing. sheesh.

what are you talking about at 5:09 you can see how bad the "thrust bearing" is and did you see the movement of the crank side to side, Its Crankwalk
