A Central Illinois woman is in hog heaven. She won the top prize at one of the Illinois State Fair's most popular events. Doris Probst whooped, hollered and oinked her way to prize in the hog calling competition. (August 12)

@oljackson99 what happened in a lot of those nations though? you were forced out or modern times took over the being a part of the commonwealth is nothing but a title (legal ties with Britain as a figurehead were removed)...for all their power they were beaten back by people they considered inferior until it completely broke down after WWII. As an FYI the united states didnt exist until the British had their asses kicked, a lot of the British empire occurred after 1783.

@wolfie83 the british empire was the largest and most succesful empire the earth has seen. it controlled 33% of the earth, contained 20% of the worlds population. it colonised and brought about many of the countries that have such a standing in the world we know today. these are countries such as canada, australia, india, new zealand, almost all of southern and eastern africa as well as many other smaller nations. oh and 99% of this was before the united states even existed. unlucky

@oljackson99 No history? my ancestors conquered a good lot of the British Isles...see America is a nation of many, people immigrate which I done, and the natives have a history old as if not older than the British isles, so think before typing.
