there's a fascinating book out by canadian dr. gabor mate about addiction called "in the realm of hungry ghosts." the title refers to this "restlessness" among most addicts that predicates their abuse of substances. he also notes that almost all addicts suffer from some sort of child abuse or neglect, he also says the parental behavior that causes these problems is worsening. it's an approach to environmental causes instead of genetic causes. he makes a compelling case.

VH1 does their best to dig up every washed up celebrity they can find, weather they are done, or on drugs they do their best to give them a show and remind the world how much we truly got tired of them. I don't feel sorry for ANY of them on Celeb Rehab who's careers went to shit over drugs. It's their own fault! Why should they get a show for everyone to sympathize for them? What about the rock stars and musicians who DIED on drugs in the 80's?
