My reviews on the SwordNArmory Carbon Steel 69.5" Naginata and 74" Battle Ready Yari.

Naginata: 5 of 5 Stars. (Excellent value for the cost. I highly recommend it! It even comes unassembled so it was kinda fun putting it together and getting to know the weapon a little more intimately.)

Yari: 2 of 5 Stars. (Blade is decent but the shaft is just plain awful. Made of cheap glued wood that cracked badly from just a little wiggle while removing the blade for initial inspection upon arrival. Might make a fun DIY project. I'm going to get a nice 1 1/4" oak bo and see if i can't fix it up.)

  • @knallbirne im so sorry, i thought it was cas hanwei, the hanwei ones are MUCH better than these

  • @Mrrimictaho Yes, they certainly are. Keep in mind, they are also nearly 10x as expensive thus they should be far superior :)

  • so why did u buy that chinese made bullsh.. ?

  • @knallbirne3000 Because I wanted to see how good they were and whether or not they could be "upgraded" such as replacing the shaft on the yari to make them worthwhile.

  • beautiful weapons! how heavy are they? and how much did u get them for?

  • @periperiftw I don't have the exact weights but they are good weight. They run about $125 for the pair. If you would like the link. Message shinobi@shinobioutfitters(.)com and I will send you all the links.

  • Mainland SE Asian cutting spears. as is common with dha swords as well, have round handles, but achieve "finger indexing" with curvature. This is amazingly effective.

  • Certainly the naginata is appealing for the price. The flattened shaft is de rigeur on real ones; never ever round. The reason for this is to automatically index the direction of hte edge relative to your hands. Higher quality but not all Yari shafts would have a ridge running down their otherwise round shafts. Both Narginata and yari shafts are traditionally made out of two or more pieces of "wood" (usually split bamboo) laminated similarly to a high end fishing rod. Tangs should be 20"ish

  • @knallbirne300 its not chinese made bullshit. its really tough just sold for a good price, i know what you mean because thats what i thought before my friend gave me a demonstration and these are the bullshit ones, the ones my friend had were real good quality, in fact im quite puzzled as to why its so bad quality

  • nagiata is very pretty, at some point i hope to buy one and a kwan do, which , not looking for an argument, is kidna the chinese equivalent, just in the shape and movement of it.

  • Wouldn't be authentic, but a fiberglass rod would have been much stronger.
