Whisperings&Stars: http://www.youtube.com/whisperingsandstars

I felt like it was important to make a video about this. Let's have an intelligent, thoughtful, respectful discussion and see where it leads :) DFTBA

  • I'm so glad someone's addressing this. It's not just a youtube issue, in the "real world" i've received comments from nerdfighter friends about being "too intelligent" to go to beauty salons or to get excited over a new lipstick! Do our interests have to fit one specific category?! Most gurus i watch do not live upto the typical airhead image they've been given but are lovely caring women sharing a passion with others. Let's remove the stigma and accept everyone :)

  • Ingrid was my cross over. I dont like to watch a ton of guru videos but there are some I really like.

  • @filibusterfirework74 Same here! I found out about Ingrid (missglamorazzi) because of Luke Conard and she's adorable, I love her vlogs. I ended up subscribing not only to her vlogging channel, but also to her beauty channel.

  • Thank you for making this video. This is a topic that isn't talked about. Thanks!

  • Im so glad to find you! this is like beauty with purpose!!!:)

  • I was directed to your fasion chanel by smokeypinkleapord and then found this channel. I love fashion and makeup, but i was also delighted to find that you had videos about Harry Potter and Doctor Who!

people can definitley be fashion and beauty gurus and love 'nerdy' stuff like doctor who at the same time! i really love what you're doing here so keep up the good work =)

  • 5 people watched this video on mute.

  • I had no idea that this stigma even existed. I'm wicked excited to see what sort of videos you make though. I find most gurus I watch are pretty down to earth, but I think you're idea of sort of... hybdrizing the idea of fashion and beauty and intellectualism is a really good one. Good luck, Robyn!

  • Yes yes yes! As a guy, I've felt that "nerdy-only" stigma for a while and have thought about taking my longboarding videos many times. Longboarding simply isn't what people consider "nerdy". I love that you're doing this.

  • It's a good idea that you're bringing this issue up, I suppose there will always a stigma against anybody that dresses differently according to their social groups, including nerds. I will definitely be watching your fashion guru channel!

  • @theloyalbadger Also, let me reiterate Again. I'm not thinking less of people because of their interest in fashion, I'm saying it is more common than "nerdy" interest.

  • Really? I don't know about you but, where I come from, I get way more funny looks for wearing Doctor Who or Harry potter propaganda than if I wore something from American Eagle. When I turn on the tv, or go to the home page of Yahoo, I see articles and hear people talking about fashion, Not philosophy behind HP or Steven Moffat's plot-twists. I'm speaking from real experiences of my own and people I know. I'm not making ignorant assumptions about a society that I have spent the last 19 years in.
