The sixth track out of Sabatons new album, Coat of Arms. This deals with the foreign pilots from countries like Czechoslovakia, Poland, and Canada who fought alongside the British in the Battle of Britain in WWII. Seriously, Sabaton is a smart band. They actually give thanks to the not-so-well-known guys who fought in the skies there. The British should owe em for this :P.

LYRICS:

In the skies above the isle,
Aces in exile prepare

From near and far they arrived, join the force
Ready to serve the Allies command
Sent in the training, though they already earned their wings
They were ready to flight, they were fit for the fight
Once in the air, the battle began
Theyve proven their worth they fight for revenge

Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
To the story be heard, tell of 303 (No. 303 Polish fighter squadron in the RAF during WWII)
Fighter pilots of Poland in the Battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle

Even at night shadows cover the ground
Fighting goes on from dusk till dawn
We fall on the Reich with the claws of the eagle
(They were) Ready to fight, (they were) ready to die
Up in the air, the battle goes on
Theyve proven their worth, they have their revenge

Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
To the story again to the 310 (No. 310 Squadron RAF was Czechoslovakian)
Men of Czechoslovakia in the Battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle

Over the battlefield brave men long way from home
You are the chosen ones sent to the sky to die
Over the battlefield brave men long way from home
You are the chosen ones sent to the sky to die

(Ooo) fly- it echoes in history
Turning the tides in the heavens above

Fighter pilots in exile fly for foreign land
To battles been won to the 401 (No. 401 squadron for the RAF was for the Royal Canadian Air Force)
Fighter pilots of Canada in the Battle of Britain
Guarding the skies of the isle

On wings of history they turn from home
To live eternally sky bound they roam
In our history, never before
Was more owed to so few

Fight the pilot in exile!

  • I don't know why, but I find funny that while Poland and Canada have "Fighter pilots", Czechoslovakia has only "man" because Czechoslovakia is just so damn long name :D btw. Great song!
