  • lol im doing a science fair project on chichen itza so i mentioned this and the other cenote...were u able to swim in this all those years ago or did they use it 4 drinking water?? my research said it was drinking water. plz reply.

  • After swimming here I came down with Giardia Lamblia. This cleared up after 2 treatments with Tinidazole. I did not get better and was diagnosed with Dientamoeba Fragilis - finally eradicated using Metronidazole and Paromomycin. Mean time I still have joint pains due to reactive arthritis. I cannot be sure that I caught these parasitic protazoa at Ikil, but it does seem extremely likely given that they are typically water borne infections. Both result from fecal contamination.
