@Badger071 That is true. But the Freikorps was the lesser of 2 evils. The Germans wanted FULL DANISH MODILAZITION...Meaning Danish forced conscripts in Danish army uniform for the Ostfront.Ofc,this was not acceptable, instead a Freikorps---of volunteers..The uniform idea was abandoned beacuse the uniform was brownish, just like the Soviets--freindly fire would be very likely. If gov.had accepted full mobilization,DK would have been an outright ally of Hitler---and not an occupied country..

More danes died fighting in world war two with the Waffen SS in Nordland, Freikorps Dänemark and Wiking, than fighting against the germans in danish resistence groups. The danish Government motivated the danes to join the Waffen SS, but when the war was over, many volenteer were judged and got in jail: "They should have known that the danish government acted wrong because of the circumstances of war"it was said. Shame on the dansih Government. Thumbs up for the volenteers. Greetings aus Dänemark
