    I don't understand why so many people think this song is about suicide, To me, it's blatantly obvious that it's about God. Perhaps that's just my interpretation, but it's the one that makes most sense.

    One major theme pervades all great art and music: the hero's journey back home; the human quest, or rebellion, to take back what's been stolen from us (true life) by our mind (the thief) which put us all to sleep with its lies. The Odyssey, The Wizard of Oz, Don Quixote, Beethoven, The Beatles, R.E.M, Radiohead, Arcade Fire (and many more) all talk about waking up to this truth. To this regard I strongly recommend the "Truth Contest - The Present". Just google it.
