Drunken students riot in Dunedin, New Zealand (Long Video)

25.8.2007 - Students in New Zealand have gone on a rampage through the streets of Dunedin - pelting police with bottles and flaming rubbish.Police made 69 arrests, as students rioted at the end of a traditional car rally from Christchurch, renowned for also being a very long pub crawl. A few police officers were cut by flying bottles, but there was no report of serious injuries.Although it did take officers, with extra reinforcements from outlying areas, several hours to bring the crowd under control.

@IMakeBoringVideos: That's true. World statistic-wise, NZ is relatively safe. That's the operative word here. RELATIVELY. There are, however, still people who DO suffer crimes IN New Zealand. There are some - like rabdamn here - who are living walking proof that crime happens there. Trust me: whilst it may not make the statistics chart, or be of the same scale, we DO have crime in NZ, and life isn't always safe there.

@allanvandyke your pretty clueless about world crime. try living in south africa...new zealand is way safer than most countries. our serious crime is way down.

when i lived there our house was broken into 3 times. my mother was almost raped twice. and was threatened with a knife. my dad had death threats. regular car jackings and murders galore....

just because we report murders doesnt mean we are high. we report almost every murder on the news. in many countries the news mentions a fraction

what the hell are cops trying to stop or prevent from happening? Yeah they were burning some old cars and stuff but is there anything wrong in party time? I live in Dunedin now and accept they want to go crazy at party, important thing is not during but after as shown in this clip.
